BENNYLYN BURKE: Man charged over death of mother and two-year-old daughter
A 50-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Bennylyn Burke and her two-year-old daughter at his home on Troon Avenue in Dundee.
App designer, Andrew Innes, has been accused of murdering Bennylyn Burke at his house in Dundee's Troon Avenue between 17 February and 5 March, by repeatedly striking her on the head with a hammer or similar implement.
Prosecutors also allege he murdered two-year-old Jellica Burke by means unknown in Troon Avenue between the same dates.
Ms Burke was last seen at her home in Kingswood on the 17th of Febuary. She, and her two children were reported missing on the 1st of March. One of her daughters has been found alive.
Detective Superintendent Graeme Mackie, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: “We are now treating the disappearances as a murder investigation and I would urge anyone with any information to please come forward and speak to us.
“This is a complex enquiry involving both local officers in Dundee and specialist resources from across Police Scotland.
“Bennylyn’s next of kin have been updated on the arrest and are being supported by colleagues from Avon and Somerset Police.
“Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this very difficult time.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area for a considerable period of time and I would like to thank the local community for their cooperation.
