KILL THE BILL: Fourth protest in Bristol ends peacefully

The fourth ‘Kill the Bill’ protest ended peacefully on Tuesday night.

It is the first protest in Bristol against the Police, Crime, Courts and sentencing bill to end without any conflict.

After gathering on College Green protesters marched throughout the city centre before stationing outside Bridewell police station.

The demonstration was very peaceful compared to what has been seen over the past week, with no riot police in sight and protesters chatting to police officers outside the station.

However there was chaos on the roads as protesters took over.

The protests have been sparked by the police, crime courts, and sentencing bill, a 300 page document, which has been drenched in controversy.

If passed the legal document could see peaceful protests subject to restrictions such as noise and time limits at a police forces discretion. It could also mean that the maximum penalty for damaging a statue would be ten years in prison.
