HUGGING FAMILY RETURNS: As PM confirms mixing indoors and all hospitality settings can also resume

HUGGING FAMILY RETURNS: As PM confirms mixing indoors and all hospitality settings can also resume

The Prime Minister has confirmed that from next Monday the 17th May, up to six people or two households will be able to meet indoors.

Boris Johnson was speaking at the Downing Street press conference, alongside Chief Scientific Advisor Sir Patrick Vallance and Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty.

The UK will moved to step three of its roadmap out of lockdown from Monday, and follows the news that a third of adults have had a second dose of a coronavirus vaccine.

Indoor hospitality will open in Monday from England and Wales, with no ‘substantial meal’ or curfew, but current table service will remain in place.

This all comes as the UK's coronavirus alert level is being lowered from four to three on the advice of experts - this means that the virus is in general circulation but no longer rising exponentially.

The chief medical officers for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales said the decision to downgrade was thanks to the efforts of the UK public in bringing Covid rates down.
